Chase Slepak is the founder of Purvey CPG, a community, resource & podcast for purveyors of emerging foods, snacks and beverages.

In a recent podcast episode Chase discussed what he refers to as “The Three P’s of CPG”.

Price: How the product is priced and its position within the category. Good price doesn’t necessarily mean cheap it means aligned & appropriate for the category and target consumer.

Package: How a product feels and looks both from the shelf and in your hands. Is it sized appropriately for the category and consumer use case? Is it eye catching and does it clearly convey the products features and benefits?

Product: Is the product enjoyable? Does it deliver on the features & benefits it claims?

The priority of The Three P’s vary by category, target consumer and even retail channel but they are always important and critical to a brand’s success.
